Challenges and Opportunities in the Pacific
The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) was honored to host Admiral Robert F. Willard, Commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet, for a National Security Leaders Forum discussion on September 3, 2009. The roundtable discussion focused on challenges and opportunities in the Pacific.
Admiral Willard became the Commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet on May 8, 2007. He is responsible for the world's largest fleet command, encompassing 100 million square miles and approximately 180 ships, 1,500 aircraft and 125,000 Sailors, Marines and Civilians. He was confirmed this summer to become Commander, United States Pacific Command.
CNAS' National Security Leaders Forum speaker series was established to provide a space where Republicans and Democrats, civilians and military could come together to discuss and address the national security challenges facing our nation.
