About the Event
The challenges of strengthening civilian-military relations in the force go far beyond issues of collaboration and accountability. These challenges raise significant cultural, leadership, and institutional issues affect the United States' ability to sustain the All-Volunteer Force. As the nation prepares for a new Presidential administration, current leaders must anticipate challenges to help prepare for the transition to the next administration.
The Center for a New American Security invites you to a public, on-the-record discussion focusing on the relationship between Service Secretaries and the Uniform Service and the role Service Secretaries have in addressing national security challenges in the next administration. The event will feature a discussion with Army Secretary Eric Fanning, Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James, and Navy Secretary Ray Mabus. CNN Pentagon Correspondent Barbara Starr will moderate the discussion. The event will begin with remarks by Hon. Michèle Flournoy, Co-Founder and CEO at CNAS.
