About the Book:
Asia’s Cauldron gives a vivid snapshot of the nations surrounding the South China Sea, the conflicts brewing in the region, and what they could mean for the United States. Mr. Kaplan interprets America’s interests in Asia in the context of an increasingly assertive China. He explores China’s attempt at dominance over the body of water that multiple countries claim and exposes the underreported military buildup in the region. “To understand the future of conflict in East Asia,” Mr. Kaplan argues, “one must understand the goals and motivations of its leaders and its people.”
