As the United States deepens its engagement in the Asia-Pacific region and faces new challenges in the South China Sea, relationships with key Asian partners and their insights into the dynamic Asian security landscape become even more critical to its long-term national security. At this critical juncture in the future of U.S. strategy in the Asia-Pacific, the Center for a New American Security was pleased to host Dr. Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Defense of the Republic of Singapore, for a speech on "Promoting Peace and Stability in the Asia-Pacific through Stable Military-to-Military Relationships" on April 4, 2012. The event featured introductory remarks by the Honorable Jon Huntsman, former United States Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore.
