U.S. Policy in South and Central Asia: A Conversation with The Honorable Nisha Biswal

Please join the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) during an off-the-record discussion with Nisha Biswal, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs on Monday, March 28. As the Obama Administration’s point-person for this diverse and developing region, Assistant Secretary Biswal will discuss the future of U.S. engagement in a part of Asia that includes one-fifth of the world’s population, some of the world’s fastest growing economies, and boasts increasing geopolitical significance.

With the Administration now in the “fourth quarter of the fourth quarter,” what are its primary policy goals in South and Central Asia?  What does it consider its signature accomplishments of the past few years, and how does it plan to build on them in 2016?  How should U.S. policy seek to shape the region in the years to come?  Assistant Secretary Biswal will address these questions and more in what promises to be a rich and insightful discussion with a select group of policy experts and influencers.
