Elizabeth
Nathan is a Professional Staff Member on the Armed Services Committee in the
U.S. House of Representatives.  Her work has focused on oversight issues
relating to Afghanistan security transition and detainee policy.

Prior to
joining the Committee, Ms. Nathan served as an assistant for irregular warfare policy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special
Operations, Low Intensity Conflict, and Interdependent Capabilities.  Her
portfolio included countering violent extremism and language programs.

Previously, Ms. Nathan worked as a research associate at the Institute for Defense Analyses in the
Joint Advanced Warfighting Division, conducting captured document research on
al-Qa'ida ideology and Iraqi military history. Ms. Nathan holds an M.A. in national security studies from Georgetown
University and a B.A. in political science from the University of Georgia.
