Larry Di Rita is the CEO Communications Executive; he and his team also support the Global General Counsel.  Mr. Di Rita is also responsible for coordinating the work of the media relations teams across the company.  In prior assignments, he has been communications executive for Global Consumer, Small Business, and Card; Global Banking and Wealth Management; and Global Corporate and Investment Banking.

Mr. Di Rita joined Bank of America from public service.  From 2001-2006, he was a special assistant to the Secretary of Defense.   During his time at the Pentagon, he also led the Office of Legislative Affairs (2001) and the Office of Public Affairs, including as chief spokesman for the Department of Defense (2003-2006).  In 2006 he was appointed counselor to the Department of Defense.

From 1996-2001, Mr. Di Rita was legislative director, then chief of staff, for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas. In 1995-1996, he was policy director of the Phil Gramm for President campaign.

From 1980 to 1993, Mr. Di Rita was a U.S. naval officer.  He had various shore-based and seagoing assignments in the United States and Japan, where he and his family lived from 1981-1985. He completed his active duty in the Directorate of Strategic Plans and Policy, The Joint Staff, from 1991-1993.  After military service, Mr. Di Rita spent two years as deputy director of foreign policy and defense studies at The Heritage Foundation, a think-tank in Washington, D.C. 

Mr. Di Rita has a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.  He is a director of The Rumsfeld Foundation and of the District of Columbia College Access Program (DC-CAP).
