Maura McCarthy

Director of Publications

Maura McCarthy is the Director of Publications at the Center for a New American Security. In this capacity, she manages the publication process for the Center’s written products and provides editorial oversight.

Prior to joining CNAS in April 2015, Ms. McCarthy was a member of the publishing team at the U.S. Naval Institute, serving as associate editor for both Proceedings and Naval History. She previously worked as the research director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America; editor of U.S. Coast Guard Forum and Military Advanced Education, published by KMI Media Group; and as a member of the communications team at the World Affairs Institute. Ms. McCarthy earned a master of arts in international relations from Boston College and bachelors of arts in both international relations and French from Rollins College. She also studied at Hollins University, Paris; and Birkbeck, University of London.
