Research Areas

Max Hill is the Joseph S. Nye, Jr. Intern for the Asia-Pacific Security Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).

Prior to joining CNAS, Max studied Urdu in India for a year as a recipient of the Boren Scholarship, a language initiative through the U.S. Department of Defense. During this time, Max also conducted research on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor for the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, analyzing the Chinese government's use of social media to shape public opinion in Pakistan. Max previously interned at the National Defense University’s Center for Complex Operations where he conducted research on illicit financing techniques and foreign fighter flows (from Southeast Asia to Afghanistan).

Max graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and the Global Economy. He is professionally proficient in Urdu and conversationally proficient in Hindi.
