Patrick Sutherland

Patrick Sutherland is the Joseph S. Nye, Jr. Intern for the Executive Team at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS).

Prior to joining CNAS, Mr. Sutherland interned for the Office if Senator Cory A. Booker as well as the Council on Foreign Relations and the Office of Congressman Christopher H. Smith. While working in those offices, he focused on research projects related to foreign policy, US-Russian relations, international economics, and the intersection between defense and AI-driven technologies.

Mr. Sutherland received his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in History from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. During his undergraduate experience, he was selected to be one of only twenty Undergraduate Associates at the Eagleton Institute of Politics. While there, he studied American domestic policy and politics under a number of esteemed academics and professionals.
