Tim Hwang is Director of the Harvard-MIT Ethics and Governance of AI Initiative. He formerly served as the global public policy for AI and machine learning at Google, where he led the company’s approach on a broad range of questions around the social impact of the technology including security, safety, bias, and fairness, among others. His current research focuses on the geopolitical aspects of computational power and machine learning hardware. Dubbed “The Busiest Man on the Internet” by Forbes Magazine, his work has appeared in New York Times, the Washington Post, Wired, The Atlantic, and the Wall Street Journal.
