Perry Boyle Jr., Mark Chandler, and Charles Sevola Jr. Join CNAS Board of Advisors

The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) announced today that Perry Boyle Jr., President and Chief Investment Officer at Stamford Harbor Capital, L.P.; Mark Chandler, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer at Cisco; and Charles “Chuck” Sevola Jr., Vice President, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential; have joined the CNAS Board of Advisors.

As members of the Board, Boyle, Chandler, and Sevola will actively contribute to the development and execution of the organization’s intellectual agenda. The Board of Advisors is comprised of prominent leaders from the private sector, academia, the military, and government who help inform the Center’s research and expand its community of interest. 

“In Mark, Chuck, and Perry, the CNAS Board of Advisors is adding three people who will add an invaluable and diverse set of perspectives to the CNAS community,” said CNAS Chief Executive Officer Michèle Flournoy. “As CNAS continues to lead on issues at the intersection of security and technology, Mark’s background in the tech sector will be critical. Similarly, Chuck’s experience leading initiatives for financial institutions to work with veterans and as a veteran himself will be valuable as CNAS crafts policies for those who have served our country. Finally, Perry’s in-depth knowledge of markets and capital flows will provide valuable insights into America’s economic tools of national security. We are pleased to welcome all three onto our Board of Advisors.”

Boyle is President and Chief Investment Officer at Stamford Harbor Capital, L.P., a registered investment advisor.  Previously, Boyle served as Head of Discretionary Investing at Point72 Asset Management, L.P. He has also served as Director of Research at S.A.C. Capital Management, LLC and Partner and Co-Head of Research at Thomas Weisel Partners. Boyle is a past director of the Connecticut Hedge Fund Association and has guest lectured at several business schools, including those at Harvard and Yale, as well as at Tuck (Dartmouth), where he was founding donor of the Tuck hedge fund program. Boyle received his MBA from Tuck (Dartmouth) and his AB from Stanford University.

As Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Cisco, Chandler oversees the company’s global legal and regulatory activities and policies. He has devoted considerable attention to global intellectual property issues and the nexus between security and integrity of technology products and user privacy expectations, and the needs of the law enforcement and intelligence communities.   He is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for Stanford Law School and the Board of Directors of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley. He has previously served as a member of the U.S. Department of Commerce Manufacturing Council and chairman of the City of Palo Alto Planning Commission.

As Vice President, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential, Sevola is responsible for creating company-wide, sustainable veterans programs that promote education and employment, employee engagement, thought leadership, and philanthropic opportunities. He is also responsible for external engagement with veteran service organizations, government, and other agencies to help advance Prudential’s veterans goals. He served in the Army as a platoon leader and a battalion signal officer.
